In our last post about Tokyo Central, we talked about how there are freshly made food at this market. Well, today I am going to try it! There were a couple of options: freshly made sushi, a buffet section (with curry, chicken wings, tempura, etc.), pastries, or ramen. You already know what I opted for.

I woke up in the morning unsure of what I wanted for lunch but then I remembered how I said I would try the hot foods at Tokyo Central- so here I am! I decided to get the ‘Chef’s Top Choice’ which is the Black Tonkotsu Ramen.

First, I’m not Japanese. Nor am I a foodie. But I’ve had my fair share of ramen. This ramen was meeh. One of my favorite ramen places was this small shop in San Mateo, CA called Ramen Dojo. The garlic broth is, how should I say this, garlic-y? There’s usually a wait too because the place is so small but it’s worth it!

I always try the broth first because a good bowl of ramen (or pho) relies on its broth. Although I received the ramen immediately after they called my number, the broth was not hot. The broth looks like it has sesame? oil in it, however, I could not taste the garlic nor the sesame.
Moving on, my seaweed was already soggy but it wasn’t even sitting there for long. The fish cake tasted fake, like it was old? Again, not a foodie, don’t know how to describe food. The bamboo shoots were also a little sour. Noodle-wise, it tastes like most ramen restaurants. It was chewy, fresh and did not taste like dough- which is a plus.
