I rarely cook, but that’s because all the recipes I was taught were made using Asian vegetables and seasonings. Although there is an Asian aisle in grocery stores such as Vons or Ralphs, they do not have the ingredients we typically use. I occasionally frequent Hmart for their Asian vegetable: Yu Choy or A-choy. I know that 99 Ranch (or Ranch 99) also serves these vegetables but I’ve noticed their store is not as clean.

My coworker, Robbin, told me about a new Asian supermarket that opened recently (October 2018) close to where we work called Tokyo Central. So I decided to go check it out on my day off. Here’s a photo tour of the store.

Upon entering the store, you can see that it is very clean: no trash on the floor and all the food is neatly stacked. Look! It’s an section dedicated to Matcha! 😀

I used to eat white rabbit candies as a child but I did not know they serve it in matcha flavor!

This grocery store, unfortunately, does not have the selection of Asian vegetables I was looking for. However, this store does have a large selection of Japanese sweets: candies, chocolate, cookies. So if you love sweets, and especially Japanese sweets, this is the place to go. There’s also an entire section dedicated to Sake for those drinkers out there.

In addition, what I found the most exciting about this store is that it serves fresh foods: sushi, buffet bar, ramen, and pastries. There are also areas for you to sit and eat in the store. Even if you’re just hungry and not here to grocery shop, you can eat fresh, hot meals here.

The pictures were taken in a rush because I felt like everyone was staring at me. They were probably thinking what is wrong with this girl, she’s taking pictures of a grocery store like she’s never seen one before ><”.

This is definitely a grocery store to check out, especially if you love Japanese foods because there is no shortage here! I’ll be coming back next time to try out their hot meals~
