Taipei, here we come.
EVA Air had featured some of its planes flying out of LAX with Hello Kitty livery in the past but it was back in 2013 when I was poor and had no money. In 2018, they decided to offer regular service from LAX-TPE three times a week on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. So I decided to hop to it and book myself a flight.

Note: Hello kitty livery jets only operate on Flight BR0005 (from LAX-TPE) and Flight BR0006 (TPE-LAX). Please always check their website (www.evakitty.com) for changes in service. For example, my flight did not fly with a special livery jet but still provided the same amenities onboard.
Here are some screenshots from the website to show you what I mean. The bow icons are the special livery jets.

I did my research and found that November was said to be the best time to visit Taipei. Weather averages were 65-75 degrees Fahrenheit. Although there was rainfall, the temperatures were still much warmer than SF. After I booked my flight, my parents caught wind that I was going on a solo trip and began to “fear” that I would be in danger so they wanted to tag along as well. I booked their tickets and the planning began. I created a 5 day itinerary which will be showcased in my upcoming posts.
A week prior to boarding, I checked on EVA’s website and found out that our flight was not going to operate on a special livery plane (what a disappointment) but luckily, still had the amenities. Compared to other locations which would lose both options all together, we were considerably fortunate.

We arrived at the airport super early, thinking that for the Thanksgiving holiday, the airport would be super busy. But, it wasn’t. In fact, we arrived so early that the check-in counter for EVA was not even operating yet. We probably stood in line for 45 minutes before the counter opened. Then we got our plane tickets! It felt so surreal at that moment and my inner child was giggling all the way to boarding.

Economy seats
Can you believe even the barf bag is so special?
These utensils were surprisingly good quality and could be reused if you wanted
The menu, snack, and napkin are all so cute
Moist towelette & dental floss/toothpick
I did not bring my phone into the restroom so I could not photograph the cute facial mist, hand lotion, and body lotion bottles. Of note, they no longer have the Hello Kitty toilet paper anymore, because I heard, people were stealing the toilet paper! :O

Curry Chicken & Potatoes with Steamed Rice
Congee with Minced Pork & Dried Turnip
Two full meals are served on this flight with snacks in-between. Food was medicore, nothing special, but the cute utensils did upgrade my experience. We also encountered a lot of turbulence on this flight, which resulted in me making use of the cute paper bag they provided (tmi? sry!). Despite the turbulence, the seats were comfortable and had a considerable amount of recline. Fourteen and half hours later, we finally landed.

Stay tuned for more Taipei updates~
